Behind every meaningful treatment experience is a team of people deeply committed to helping others heal, grow, and rediscover their sense of possibility. At be Collaborative Care, our clinicians, mentors, and staff bring both professional expertise and personal passion to the work they do every day.

In our Meet Our Team series, we highlight the individuals who make our program so special. Through these conversations, you will learn more about their roles at be Collaborative Care, what inspires their work in the mental health and recovery field, and the experiences that shape their approach to supporting clients and families.

In this edition, we are excited to introduce Cindi Powell MS, RD/LDN, CYT, Registered Dietitian at be Collaborative Care, who shares insights into her role, her perspective on the recovery journey, and what continues to motivate her in this field.

Q: Tell us about your role! What do you do at be Collaborative Care and what do you love most about your job?  What specialties or therapeutic approaches do you bring to your work?

A: I am a registered dietitian and a certified yoga instructor at be Collaborative Care. What I most love about my job is helping people find peace with food again and seeing the progression through their recovery journey. With my experience in yoga and fitness, I love helping clients incorporate movement using a mindful approach.

Q: What is your “why?” What motivated or inspired you to be in this field?

A: I want to help individuals rebuild trust with food and their bodies, challenge harmful diet culture, and feel supported rather than judged in their recovery. Creating a safe, weight-inclusive space where healing is possible.

Q: In your opinion, what does be Collaborative Care do better than others in this field? What makes them unique?

A: I feel what makes be Collaborative Care unique is the design and layout of our programs. Having a culinary nutritionist in-house with access to a full kitchen allows us to help clients build real life skills in all the steps of having a successful relationship with food and feeding oneself.

Q: What makes you excited to be a part of the be Collaborative Care Team?

A: I love being a part of the Be Collaborative team because of all my amazing colleagues and the interdisciplinary work we are able to do with our clients.

Q: What do you wish more people knew about your profession?

A: I wish more people understood that we don’t just create meal plans. We support clients through fear, shame, trauma, and deeply ingrained beliefs about food and bodies. Our job often involves unlearning harmful narratives and helping clients understand that health is not defined by weight.
